Who We Are

Leaves & Petals has been providing Garden Maintenance to the Dufferin-Caledon area since 2013. We are a proud womxn owned and operated company. Our founder, Heather, and lead hand, Emily, have a combined 22 years experience in the garden. They share a love of all things garden related that continues to blossom. Our crews are friendly and efficient. Even your furry four-legged family members will love us - and the treats we keep in our car kits.

Heather Powell
Owner

Heather, founder of Leaves & Petals, started her gardening journey working and learning the skills of her trade through summer jobs as a young woman until she left for school in Cape Breton. Her time there was spent pursuing her first passion, fiddle music.
When she returned home she found her hands in the dirt more often than holding a bow, and quickly had many requests from friends and neighbours to help "save their gardens." Seeing a growing need for the specialty services she could provide, Leaves & Petals began. In 2013, Heather filled her tiny car with tools, a few flyers, and she was in business.

Flash forward to today and you can still find her humming beloved fiddle tunes while leading her growing crew of amazing gardeners. Reconnecting with clients every spring, and watching their faces light up after a garden transformation continues to inspire her year after year.

Heather lives in Dufferin County with her amazing husband and two beautiful daughters.

Emily Collins
General Manager

Emily, our Lead Hand, grew up in the rural community of Mono Centre where her love of nature and gardening began. With a family background in agriculture, she was submersed at an early age into life outdoors and getting her hands dirty.

Emily's professional achievements include involvement with the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, 2015 Toronto Pan Am/Para Pan Am Games, and Just for Laughs Comedy Festivals, which has allowed her to live abroad and gain valuable knowledge of team management.

Longing to reconnect with her roots, Emily returned to Mono Centre with the prospect of a career working outdoors. What started as part-time work with Leaves & Petals has grown into a partnership with Heather since 2017. Emily’s drive to learn and grow with the business has made her an asset - plus, her beaming smile is always a welcome sight to staff and clientele alike.
